Ryan. As stated in the report, “The goal of this inquest was to determine whether the fatal shooting of Reilly by that on-duty Lexington police officer was the result of an unlawful act or legally justified. It was also the goal of this inquest to determine whether the use of less-lethal munitions and any non-lethal injuries sustained by Reilly by Officers [Steven] Papia and [John] Frissori were the result of unlawful acts or were legally justified.”The inquest was launched on Dec. 14, 2022 and concluded on March 16. LYNN — After dominating the bulk of play in Saturday’s Div. 2 boys’ soccer final against Wakefield, Oliver Ames suddenly found itself at the mercy of the overtime gods.Fortunately for the Tigers, they had Joey Carney on their side. The senior made his last play in an OA uniform one to remember as he scored 3:30 into the first overtime to give the Tigers a 1-0 win and a second straight title.“Once Joey got to the right side against his defender, I felt like it was over,” Tigers coach John Barata said. “I really felt like we deserved to win the game and I don’t often say that. But you hate going into overtime because you’re at the mercy of a bounce or something like that.”Barata had a reason to feel that way because, for as much as his team dominated the game, they couldn’t find a way to solve the puzzle that was Wakefield (17-4-2) keeper Andrew Valley.Valley, who was brilliant in a 10-round shootout to get Wakefield to the final, practically stood on his head during regulation. He fa...Mount Greylock goes undefeated (24-0), nets Div. 5 volleyball title

WORCESTER — When it comes to winning state championships, talent always plays a role.Chemistry doesn’t hurt either. The Mount Greylock’s volleyball squad has built upon that for the past few seasons, and it paid dividends Saturday.Tufts commit Celina Savage paced her team with 10 kills to go with a block and an assist, as top-seeded Mt. Greylock completed a perfect season with a 3-0 sweep of No. 2 Bourne to win its first-ever Div. 5 volleyball championship at Worcester State.“To be honest, in eighth grade, I took a look at my height,” Savage said. “I took a look at where I was and I was like: ‘I wonder how far I can go?’ A pipe dream was that we could be state champs, but we just kept getting better, and kept getting better. Now, we’re here.”Mount Greylock (24-0) was also led by Julia DeChaine, who registered seven kills and a trio of assists in the victory. The Mounties confidently took the court, looking to cap their already historic season with a bang. SCITUATE – You get one shot, one opportunity, and senior Joshua Kue captured it.No. 3 Norwell (20-2-2) captured their second Div. 3 state championship in three years in a 2-1 shootout (5-4) victory over No. 4 Pembroke (18-3-1) as Kue finished off the perfect set of penalty kicks for the Clippers; Kue had not scored since his sophomore year until the game-winning penalty kick.“There is always pressure but once I saw my goalie save (the fifth shot), there was almost like a high moment where I said, ‘I can win this’,” said Kue, a defender. “We work on that every day in practice, knowing that we work on it, there’s a lot of confidence in my shot and when I can finish.”Junior goaltender Nolan McKenna was simply outstanding throughout the entire contest and the entire playoff run. The Titans actually outshot Norwell in regulation and the two overtimes at a 10-2 clip but McKenna registered nine saves and stopped the all-important penalty kick.McKenna leaned left but dove to his right in pe...Latest news
