Officers involved in St. Louis City shooting, man in custody ST. LOUIS - A man is in custody after a shooting that involved police officers in St. Louis City.It happened around 8:32 p.m. on the 5500 block of Grand Avenue, where a woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The extent of the victim's injuries have not yet been revealed. Execution of Johnny Johnson will proceed on Aug. 1, stay lifted While on scene, the suspect opened fire directed towards the officers. Police then returned fire. No one was struck was stuck in the gunfire.The suspect is now in custody.

Commemorations to mark Bois du Cazier mining disaster in Belgium Special commemorations will take place in Charleroi next month in memory of one of the worst ever disasters in Belgium.On 8 August 1956 some 262 miners perished in the Bois du Cazier in Marcinelle.They included 136 Italians, more than half the victims.Today, the site is preserved as an industrial heritage site and a museum now stands on the site of the old mine.The commemorations on 8 August will start at 8 am, almost the same time as the fire started destroying the mine that killed so many. In the main square of the old mine a bell donated by Italian bell makers was installed.It will chime 262 times, once for each victim. A lone voice will then call out the names of the victims, one after another.Former miners and relatives of victims’ families are expected to attend the commemoration. Aircraft crashes into hangar at airport in San Bernardino County; 3 reported dead  A plane crash killed three people and caused an aircraft hangar to go up in flames in San Bernardino County.According to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson, a single-engine Beechcraft P35 crashed during departure at Cable Airport in Upland around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning with three people on board. “Three occupants of aircraft located deceased,” SBFD tweeted. “Investigators enroute.”  Nightclub security guard beaten to death in Hollywood Preliminary information from the San Bernardino County Fire Department indicated that fire crews were on scene at the airport early Sunday morning fighting flames that had engulfed an aircraft hangar.Fire officials later confirmed that the hangar fire was extinguished.The FAA and the NTSB are handling the investigation.This is a developing story. Angels outfielder Taylor Ward suffers facial fractures after being hit in head by 91 mph pitch TORONTO (AP) — Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward was placed on the 10-day injured list with facial fractures on Sunday, a day after he was hit by a 91 mph pitch from Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah.Ward was taken to a Toronto hospital after being struck in the fifth inning of Saturday’s 6-1 loss. He was released from the hospital Saturday evening.To replace Ward, the Angels selected the contract of infielder Kevin Padlo from Triple-A Salt Lake.Batting with the bases loaded, Ward was hit by a 2-0 pitch from Manoah. Two women shot while driving in East Oakland OAKLAND — Two women were shot Saturday night as they were driving in East Oakland, authorities said.A third woman in the vehicle was not hurt.The women were in a car driving westbound in the 9000 block of Edes Avenue about 9:55 p.m. Saturday when they were shot at by at least one occupant of another car, police said.The women were able to drive a short distance to the 9100 block of Date Street where their car crashed.The two wounded women, a 35-year-old Castro Valley resident and a 34-year-old Oakland resident, were taken to a hospital where they were in stable condition, authorities said.It was not clear which of the three women was driving the car.The vehicle the suspects were believed to have been in was recovered in the area but the occupants fled before police got to the scene.A motive for the shooting is under investigation.Police and Crime Stoppers  of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.  Anyone with ...

Deputies discover man covered in blood, two women with stab wounds at Redwood City home (KRON) -- One woman is dead and another is injured after a violent stabbing in Redwood City on Sunday, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office announced. 3.6 earthquake strikes north of Morgan Hill Deputies responded to a distress call on the 3200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Outside of the residence, deputies found a man visibly covered in blood. He was quickly apprehended.As deputies made their way into the home, they found two women with multiple stab wounds. Deputies aided the woman and arranged for both to be transferred to Stanford Medical Center. One of the women died. Jose Uriarte-Martinez was identified as the suspect in the incident, and he is in custody. Uriarte-Martinez is being held at the Maguire Correctional Facility without the option of bail.
