By Jim Wyss and Devon Pendleton | BloombergFormer Google CEO Eric Schmidt has backed out of purchasing a superyacht that’s been abandoned in Antigua for over a year, after the sale became mired in lawsuits.Schmidt withdrew his $67.6 million winning bid for the Alfa Nero several days ago, said Ronald Sanders, Antigua and Barbuda’s ambassador to the US. In June, Schmidt won an auction for the luxury vessel, but the deal was later challenged in court by the daughter of Russian fertilizer billionaire Andrey Guryev.“Schmidt, because of the legal wrangling, determined that we could not give him clear title of the ship,” Sanders said in a Friday interview. “That’s not accurate, because the ship belongs to us, it is owned by the government.”People close to Schmidt who asked not to be identified discussing the sale said any property subject to litigation isn’t free and clear.The 267-foot Alfa Nero, complete with a baby grand piano and a swimming pool that turns into a helipad, was abandoned ...

Massive water main break in Pacific Heights disrupting SF Muni service

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A water main break in the area of Fillmore and Union Streets in Pacific Heights is disrupting bus service, according to SF Muni. The 22 Fillmore and 45 Union/Stockton lines are rerouting buses around the area, Muni said. Sailboat stuck at Stinson Beach must be removed today Muni is replacing trolley buses with motor coaches, which could result in inbound delays near UCSF, the transit agency advised. City staff are on site at the location and conducting outreach to businesses and homes impacted by the water main break, according to District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani. Video of the incident shows what appears to be a large sinkhole in the middle of the intersection. No estimation has been provided as to when normal bus service will resume.

3 men arrested for attempted murder, police chase in San Jose

(KRON) -- Three men were arrested early Wednesday morning for attempted murder and evading police, according to the San Jose Police Department.Around 1:12 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of West Alma Avenue and located two men both suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victims were transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said. The three suspects fled the scene in a dark colored sedan following the shooting. Officers located the suspect car fleeing the scene and attempted a traffic stop. A pursuit ensued after the car failed to pull over, SJPD said.During the pursuit, two firearms were thrown out from the car. Both firearms were recovered and one of them was found to be a ghost gun. The pursuit ended in East Palo Alto and two suspects were taken into custody.
