As a student at an alternative high school on St. Paul’s West Side, Ivan Sanchez hasn’t just hit the books. He’s also learned the ins and outs of mudding, painting, sanding, insulation and all the other particulars that went into building a four-bedroom, 2,000-square-foot, environmentally sustainable house that some have billed as the home of the future. The two-story structure soon will hit the market in the same neighborhood where Sanchez goes to school, with an income eligibility ceiling geared to middle-class families.“A lot of people liked the opportunity,” Sanchez, a 17-year-old student at Change Inc.’s GAP School, said while standing in front of the school project he’s spent the last year constructing from the ground up on Page Street. “I definitely did. It’s probably a career path I’ll take.”During tours last week with a host of elected officials, arguably the only person prouder of his accomplishment — w...Shen boys capitalize off errors to win Section 2 title

Dear Amy: I am a 45-year-old divorced woman with a fairly active social media presence. After my divorce, I dated someone with no social media, so it was easy. After that ended, I met someone through a friend. He immediately suggested that we connect on Facebook. We’ve been out quite a few times and it’s been great, but he’s dating other people. That’s fine — and I’m open to seeing other people, too.I’m not even sure of my feelings for him, but seeing posts about his various dates and his active social life makes me uncomfortable.I can tell who else he’s dating from his posts. It makes me curious and jealous in a way that I don’t like. What do people these days do about social media when they’re dating, but not settled?Should I mute him? Not connect with people on social media until the relationship is serious?I know people talk about social media being toxic to teenagers, but I think the age range should be extended! What’s the protoc...Gun and drug trafficking ring busted in raids across Europe

At 6NT he won the first diamond in dummy and pondered how to attack the clubs. Taking the ace, then leading to the jack would cost if East had a low singleton, but a first-round finesse with the jack would lose only if West had a singleton queen. So South led the deuce of clubs to his jack at Trick Two — holding himself to two club tricks. The heart finesse won later, but he went down.CAN PLAY SAFESouth didn’t think too good. If the heart finesse loses, South needs four club tricks. But if East has the king of hearts, South can play safe for three club tricks.South should lead a heart to his queen at the second trick. When the finesse wins, he leads the king of clubs. Here’s what you need to know about the holiday forecast. Those with plans outdoors should bring along rain-gear and brace for scattered showers throughout the day with dry periods breaking up the rain. The rain is courtesy of a slow-moving upper-level system churning south of D.C., 7news First Alert Meteorologist Brian van de Graaff said. When it’s not raining, D.C.-area residents can expect a cloudy day.“There will be dry times to get outside, but just be prepared to dodge a shower or two,” van de Graff said. The best chance of rain is in D.C. and areas south of the District. The highest rainfall is expected south of Interstate 66, he said. The showers, though perhaps ill-timed for some commemorating the holiday, are much-needed as D.C. continues to be in a drought.Temperatures will be a bit milder than the weekend, with highs in the low to mid-70s.
